CEO says claims against Greensboro eye center not true

GREENSBORO, N.C. — The public hasn’t heard the whole story about Southeastern Eye Center and Dr. Richard Epes, according to Southeastern’s chief executive officer.

On Wednesday, Mark McDaniel defended Southeastern and Epes against what he called “a smear campaign” waged through court documents.

McDaniel said creditors have accused Epes of every­thing from hiding assets to defaulting on a loan to a 75-year-old grandmother.

None of it is true, according to McDaniel.
