ALABAMA — All four confederate flags at the confederate memorial on the Alabama capitol grounds were removed this morning on the order of Gov, Robert Bentley, according to spokesperson Yasamie August.

The Republican governor made the move saying he didn’t want the flags to become a distraction to state legislative matters.

According to August, the move will be permanent.
