Original story

GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. — A downed transmission line knocked out power to Duke Energy customers in Guilford and Rockingham counties Tuesday morning.

At least 8,000 Duke Energy customers in Guilford and Rockingham counties are without power.

The primary areas affected by the outage are: Lake Townsend and Lake Jeanette in Guilford County and Wittys Crossroads and Wentworth in Rockingham County.

A spokesman for Duke Energy said crews should have power restored to customers by noon.

The spokesman says this is a bigger issue than a transformer, but this will be one project to get the power restored.
