NC jail cook accused of having sexual relationship with, giving drugs to inmate

BAYBORO, N.C. – A North Carolina jail cook is accused of supplying drugs and having a sexual relationship with an inmate.

WCTI reported that Dawn Brigman Hayes, 47, faces various charges including six counts of sexual offense by a custodian.

The suspect reportedly works as a Pamlico County Detention Facility cook supervisor.

Detention officers were tipped off about the crimes and searched her personal belongings, where they found marijuana and drug paraphernalia, according to WCTI.

Hayes was also charged with possession of a controlled substance in a jail facility, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was jailed under at $150,000 bond.
