Meet Kate Peacock, this year’s ‘Miss North Carolina’

DUNN, N.C. — A college student from Dunn was crowned the new Miss North Carolina Saturday night in Raleigh.

Kate Peacock is the winner of this year’s pageant, winning a $12,500 scholarship. Organizers said she’s a sophomore at Meredith College in Raleigh.

She performed a tap dance to “Swing the Mood” and also was awarded the Hailey Best Overall Talent Award.

Peacock will go on to represent Miss North Carolina in the Miss America pageant in September.

Miss Metrolina Cheslie Kryst was first runner-up and was awarded a $3,500 scholarship. Miss Southeastern Victoria Huggins placed second runner-up and Miss Clayton Kensley Leonard placed third.
