WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Winkers, a Winston-Salem adult entertainment club that served only juices, has closed “until further notice,” according to a sign placed on its door at 515 N. Cherry St.

The operator of Winkers is listed as K. Neely Investments LLC of Charlotte, according to a Forsyth County Register of Deeds filing. The business, across from Benton Convention Center, opened in 2010 and was known for its “girls girls girls” neon signs.

An adult entertainment club can serve alcoholic beverages only if there is no full nudity of performers. A juice bar can offer full nudity.

Some strip clubs had allowed “brown bagging” as a loophole to keep offering nude dancing and drinking after the state Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission pulled their permits.
