Professional surfer Bethany Hamilton announced the arrival of her newborn son Monday by sharing a photo of the newest member of the family.

Hamilton and her husband, Adam Dirks, posed on the beach with their son Tobias, who was born June 1.

On her Facebook post she wrote:

“Blessed to welcome our son, Tobias, into the world. Born June 1st, 7.9 lbs. and 21” Long. He is named after his great grandpa Tobias meaning “The goodness of God.” Adam and I [are] so in love with our lil guy and are stoked to share life with him!”

When she first announced her pregnancy in February she talked about the difficulties she would face raising a child with one arm.

“I often forget that I have one arm, but when I think about it — a squirming baby, changing the diaper and just me and this squirmy baby — it could be really challenging,”  Hamilton said.

Her husband, however, said he is happy to support his wife and change diapers on the beach while she’s surfing.
