Tow truck employee struck by vehicle on I-77 in Surry County

SURRY COUNTY, N.C. — A tow truck employee was struck by a vehicle on Interstate 77 in Surry County on Monday afternoon.

The accident happened shortly before 3 p.m. near mile marker 94, north of the Zephyr Road exit, according to Surry County EMS.

The employee was reportedly backed over by their partner. The employee was conscious and alert with hemorrhaging from a leg.

The injured employee was identified as 35-year-old Jeffrey Galyean, of Cana, Va.

AirCare was dispatched to the scene.

Galyean’s injuries were not life threatening, Highway Patrol said.

It is unclear if charges will be filed.
