LINWOOD, Kan. — Two men are dead following a crash in Leavenworth County.

The Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Office got the call about 5 a.m. Saturday of a single car crash. It happened on County Road One just north of Eudora near the Kansas River.

Justin Wilson and his nephew, Jessie Aldrich, were killed in the crash. They were slated to be groomsmen in a wedding later Saturday at Holy-Field Vineyard and Winery in Basehor, which is where both men lived. A third man, who was driving, was booked into jail on traffic charges.

The wedding between Zach Wilson and Shanna Breuer was postponed due to the tragedy.

Relatives and friends shared their grief on Facebook while offering support. Many posted on KCTV5’s Facebook page how amazing the two men were and the devastation that their children will grow up without a father.

Deputies for the Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Office have released few details.

William “Willie” Wilson, 20, was arrested on traffic charges. He bonded out of the Leavenworth County Jail on Saturday. A Leavenworth County major told the Basehor Sentinel that authorities are investigating whether alcohol was involved.

The driver is brother to the groom, who was not in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Deloris Burns said the entire small town is shaken up by the tragedy. She has known Justin Wilson for several years.

“He was an awesome person, just an all-around great guy, a good father,” Burns said. “In a smaller town, everybody knows everybody. You watch people’s kids grow up. You just feel like all in the family.
