WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Players on the 97 Twins Royal team range from eighth grade to high school seniors in the under 17 age group.

The group leaves this week for regional championship in Louisiana. But they say getting to this point was not an easy journey.

The players and head coach say they have had to overcome racism from opposing teams and parents, aimed at the mostly-Hispanic team.

They started a campaign to encourage others to embrace diversity.
