PENDLETON, S.C. — Police continued their search Monday for a South Carolina baby missing since Saturday morning, WYFF reported.

Authorities describe Leaona Wright as about two feet tall and 29 pounds and last wearing a white sleep shirt. They said they believe the child went missing overnight or early Saturday morning from the Edgewood Square apartment complex.

The child’s mother, Kiara Sullivan, said she and her boyfriend, Travis Jones, woke up and noticed the front door open and the child missing. The baby’s older sibling, a 3-year-old girl, was also at home.

Investigators said they believe the 3-year-old may have opened the home’s door, allowing the 1-year-old to crawl out.

When asked if he thought the baby was still alive, Anderson County Sheriff John Skipper said, “You can always hope.”
