HIGH POINT, N.C. — One man is dead and another injured after a car went off the road and hit two trees early Sunday morning in High Point.

Christopher Robinson, 27, of Thomasville, was pronounced dead, and Dion Agee, 21, of Thomasville, was hospitalized with injuries, according to High Point police.

Police said the single-vehicle crash happened at about 3:45 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of Deep River and Hickswood roads.

Agee was driving a 2008 Nissan Altima north of Deep River and lost control of the car near the intersection, according to police.

The car went off the right side of the road and hit two trees, causing Robinson to be ejected, according to police.

Robinson was taken to Moses Cone Hospital where he died. Agee was taken to High Point Regional Hospital with injuries, the extent of which has not been released.

Speed and alcohol are believed to be factors, according to police. Police said the investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
