Man misses highway exit, stops at NC convenience store, wins $100k lottery
RALEIGH, N.C. — A man bought a $100,000 lottery ticket after he missed his exit and stopped at a North Carolina convenience store to use the bathroom.
Lottery officials said railroad worker Chad Beach of Chuckey, Tenn., was recently on his way to Raleigh with two co-workers for his job.
They decided to take a detour to avoid heavy traffic and ended up missing an exit. Officials said they made it to convenience store in the Raleigh area and Beach wanted a lottery ticket.
Beach planned to buy a $5 Mega Bucks ticket, but he only had a $10 bill, so he bought two, according to lottery officials. The second one was worth $100,000, and reportedly comes to $69,251 after taxes.
Beach said he plans to buy a Great Dane dog and pay some bills with the money. He already owns two Great Danes.
