WTVR reported that the preteen drove from Prince George County, Va., through the Tar Heel state and about 12 miles into South Carolina before getting busted.

The boy skipped school and took off in his father’s truck without permission on Thursday, eventually being pulled over near Latta, S.C., according to sources. Two weapons were reportedly found in the truck.

WTVR described the boy's 300-mile journey as a "joyride." It remains uncertain where exactly he was headed or why.

The Marion County Department of Juvenile Justice took the boy into custody after a trooper was called on a report of reckless driving.
