Moped driver killed in High Point crash

HIGH POINT, N.C. — The driver of a moped was killed Wednesday morning in High Point after colliding with an SUV.

The wreck happened at 9:12 a.m. at the intersection of West Market Center and Surrett drives.

According to multiple witnesses, Abdul Salam of High Point was driving his moped eastbound on Market Center when he ran a red light.

That’s when he collided with the driver of a Chevrolet Tahoe traveling north on Surrett.

Salam was pronounced dead at the scene.

No charges will be filed.
