WENTWORTH, N.C. — A former U.S. Postal carrier from Rockingham County is in jail after a two-year investigation involving federal charges.

Joyce Huskey Stanley, 59, was charged with four counts of felonious identity theft.

Investigators said she stole mail from residents on her postal route and used their personal information to open credit cards and go shopping.

An indictment said she even made a tuition payment to UNC Charlotte.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office already arrested her in January on five counts of fraud and I.D. theft.

Now, she’s also facing more felony charges from the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office.

Stanley is being held in the Rockingham County Jail under a $10,000 secured bond.

She is scheduled to appear in Rockingham County District Court on June 9.
