Cam Newton expected to close on long-term deal with Carolina Panthers

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Carolina Panthers quarterback, Cam Newton is close to finalizing a long-term deal with the team, according to ESPN.

The new contract that would likely put Newton under contract until 2020 could be complete as early as Monday.

ESPN 730 radio in Charlotte reported that his new deal is likely to be worth between $20 million and $21 million a year.

Team officials are still tight lipped about the deal and declined to comment.
