Father, son injured in shooting at Surry County home

DOBSON, N.C. – A father and son were injured in a shooting at their home in Surry County.

Deputies said 73-year-old Charlie Willard Haney and his 32-year-old son Charlie Willard Haney III were injured in a shooting at 111 Arthur Haney Road in Dobson.

Authorities were called to the home shortly after 2 p.m. Friday. The father and son reportedly lived together there and were both found with gunshot wounds.

Deputies said the father had an injury to his left hand and the son had injuries to his right hand and left abdomen.

Investigators said they believe all the injuries were caused by a single shot. Both were treated by Surry County Emergency Medical Services at the scene.

The father was taken to Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in Elkin and the son was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

Details surrounding the circumstances of the shooting remain under investigation. Authorities have not released any other information.
