WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. –A man was taken into custody after police say he assaulted two officers Tuesday evening.

Officers reported seeing Everette Vernard Young, Jr., 36, at 6:50 p.m. on the 2500 block of Greenway Avenue with an open container of alcohol.

Then the two officers approached Young he assaulted both of them, ran to his car and drove off.

One of the officers was dragged down the road for a short distance.

Police spotted Young’s blue suburban near Robinhood Road and Reynolda Road. Officers chased the SUV through the Buena Vista neighborhood.

Young was eventually arrested at the intersection of Northwest Boulevard and North Hawthorne Street.

Neither officer involved in the arrest was injured during the incident.

Young is facing several charges including felony assault on an officer and resisting arrest.
