Amtrak crash victim graduated from UNC Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — One of the victims in Tuesday’s Amtrak train derailment in Philadelphia graduated from the University of North Carolina Charlotte, according to FOX46 in Charlotte

Dr. Derrick Griffith, 42, was identified as the fifth victim late Wednesday night.

Griffith was the dean of students at Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn, N.Y.

According to his LinkedIn page he graduated from UNCC with a history degree in 1992.

Medgar Evers College released a statement saying that Griffith had just been granted a Doctorate of Philosophy by the City University of New York, according to FOX46 in Charlotte.
