Fire in Montgomery County knocks out power

Update 12:41 p.m. — Power has been restored to nearly all 2,000 homes that were without power Wednesday morning.

Update — Nearly 2,000 people are still without power in Montgomery County.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, N.C. — Crews just put out a fire at a substation in Montgomery County.

No homes or businesses were damaged in the fire.

More than 3,000 people are currently without power in the area as a result of the fire.
