RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. -- Ashely Figueroa got a surprise pair of Beats Solo headphones last week Friday.

They’re the same kind of headphones thieves stole from her home in Sophia last month along with thousands of dollars’ worth of electronics.

"I would go to school and see kids with Beats, and I'd come home and be sad still," Figueroa said.

She was so upset Deputy Jody Cheek raised the money to buy her a new pair.

"You hear an 11-year-old girl crying over headphones that she'd gotten for Christmas, I think that's something anyone should want to do something about," Cheek said.

He and others from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office raised $152 in one day to replace the headphones.

Cheek also hand-delivered the gift.

"It feels good to be able to help somebody, especially a child," he said.

It’s a gift the little girl says she grateful for.

"They didn't have to do that for me, but they did," Figueroa said. “I’m not sad anymore.”
