NEW YORK — A 25-year-old NYPD officer has died Monday, succumbing to injuries he suffered when he was shot in the head while sitting in an unmarked car in Queens, PIX11 reported.

Officer Brian Moore had been in a coma since Saturday night when he underwent surgery for what court papers described as “severe injuries to his skull and brain.”

Demetrius Black is accused of firing at Moore and his partner as they sat in plain clothes in an unmarked police car Saturday night. They stopped Black after seeing him tugging at his waistband.

Black was ordered held without bail Sunday. He did not enter a plea to charges of attempted murder.

Prosecutors plan to present the case to a grand jury. If convicted, Black faces life in prison.
