AMARILLO, Texas — Two North Carolina men have been arrested after authorities said they found marijuana in their car worth nearly $500,000 and hashish valued at more than $42,000.

The Associated Press reported that 22-year-old Cody Allen Hill and 27-year-old Justin Bay Salmeron, both of Wilmington, were charged after a recent traffic stop in the Texas Panhandle.

The suspects have been booked into the Carson County Jail on drug charges including the possession and delivery of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance.

They were reportedly pulled over for a traffic violation. A .25-caliber handgun was also said to have been found in the car.

The drugs were found in vacuum-sealed bags. The suspects said they were traveling from Bakersfield, California to Wilmington.
