WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A pedestrian has died after being hit by a vehicle Friday afternoon in Winston-Salem, according to police.

Larzaro Manuel Rosolandor, 64, of Winston-Salem, died after being taken to Wake Forest Medical Center for his injuries, police said.

The crash was reported shortly before 4 p.m. in the 2800 block of University Parkway.

Police said an 18-year-old man was driving a 2007 Toyota Rav-4 north on University Parkway when the victim was crossing the street.

The driver said he tried to avoid the crash by steering to the left, but was unable to do so.

Neither speed nor alcohol appears to be factors, according to police. Police have not said anything about possible charges.

This is Winston-Salem’s sixth traffic fatality of the year as opposed to seven at this same time last year.
