KNIGHTDALE, N.C. — A North Carolina woman who made global headlines after being paralyzed in a freak accident at her bachelorette party is now a mother.

Yahoo! Parenting reported that Rachelle Friedman Chapman is head-over-heels in love with her newborn baby girl Kaylee Rae.

The child was born to her and husband Chris Chapman, 31, Sunday via surrogate. She said it was always her dream to be a mother.

“I can’t wait to see what she’s going to be like,” said the mother. “I’m just so excited.” The baby was described as a “7-pound, 11-ounce bundle of joy.”

Friedman was pushed into a shallow pool at her bachelorette party just a month before her wedding in June 2010. She was paralyzed from the chest down.

Friedman finally had her wedding day with Chris Chapman in July 2011. The bridesmaid who pushed her into the pool was still her bridesmaid.
