Heartwarming homecoming: Woman caught in Nepal quake returns home to NC

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte woman who was hiking Mount Everest when the deadly earthquake hit Nepal returned to a heartwarming homecoming in Charlotte Thursday.

WSOC was there as Ashleigh Stumler’s parents and siblings welcomed her home.

“A lot of emotion, you know I ‘m thrilled that my daughter’s — our daughter’s — coming home today,” Beverly Stumler said.

Ashleigh and her family have waited for that moment since the earthquake.
