Woman cited after crashing into Burlington police cruiser

BURLINGTON, N.C. — A woman was cited after authorities said she crashed into a Burlington police trooper, resulting in damage, but no injuries.

Burlington police said it happened at about 12:30 p.m. Friday on Alamance Road and Eldermont Street.

A 63-year-old woman was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze south on Alamance Road and started to make a left turn on Eldermont Street, according to police.

The woman did not see the officer on the outside lane and crashed into the police cruiser, according to Burlington police.

Both vehicles were damaged, the police car received about $5,000 in damage and the Cruze about $3,000 in damage. Both vehicles were towed. No injuries were reported.

The woman was issued a citation for failing to see before turning, according to police. The investigation is ongoing.
