Officials investigate deaths of man, woman in Caswell County

CASWELL COUNTY, N.C. — The Caswell County Sheriff’s Office and the SBI are investigating after two people were found shot in a Caswell County home Monday.

After responding to a welfare check call, deputies found Charles Michael Glass, 39, of Blairs, Va., and Valerie Bigelow Wiley, 46, shot inside Wiley’s home located at 614 Blackwell Road in Yanceyville.

Wiley was pronounced dead at the scene and Glass was transported to  Duke University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Deputies said one of the victims had what looked like a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The initial investigation revealed the two victims had been in a previous relationship with each other.

Both were taken to the North Carolina State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

The investigation is ongoing.
