MANSFIELD, Ohio -- Police in Mansfield, Ohio have entered the second day of a standoff with a man described as a survivalist.

Authorities have flooded David Parker's basement and believe he may be in a bunker. His gas and electricity have been turned off.

Parker lives in a residential neighborhood on the south side of Mansfield and is described by police and neighbors as a “survivalist” and a “doomsday prepper.”

According to police, Parker repeatedly shot at police officers and SWAT team members throughout the day with bullets that pierced through bulletproof shields.

The standoff started when a gas company employee arrived at Parker's home to shut off his gas. That's when he pulled out a gun on the gas worker and the standoff began.

Monday night small robots were sent to the house, but Parker continually opened fire on SWAT team members.

It is not clear what weapons Parker is using, but authorities said they are powerful.
