GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Dozens of transportation officials from the local, state and federal level gathered near UNCG for a pedestrian safety assessment Monday afternoon.

The group evaluated safety issues at the intersection of Walker Avenue and South Aycock Street, which is known as one of the most dangerous intersections for pedestrians in Greensboro.

The safety assessment was part of USDOT's new Safer People, Safer Streets Iniative.

The Federal Highway Administration safety assessment report on the intersection is expected to be released by June.
