After dumping more than two inches of rain across parts of the Piedmont, the rain is finally moving out.

Warm muggy air will be in place on Monday afternoon. Plus, during the day Monday, a cold front will move across the area.

That’s why scattered showers and thunderstorms will be in the forecast for Monday afternoon. Also on Monday, there is a chance we could see strong to severe thunderstorms.

Any thunderstorm on Monday afternoon will be capable of producing strong winds, hail, an isolated tornado and heavy rain. The best chance for severe weather will be from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday.

The cold front will be off the coast on Tuesday. Drier and cooler air will move in behind the front. Tuesday will be sunny with highs in the lower 70s and lows in the 50s.

On Wednesday, a cold front will bring us a slight chance for a shower. Highs will be in the lower 70s with morning temperatures in the mid to upper 40s.

It’ll be a little cooler on Thursday with highs around 70 degrees. Cooler still on Friday, with highs in the upper 60s.
