ARCHDALE, N.C. -- An Archdale family says its pit bull was returned to them with serious injuries two weeks after they reported it missing.

Duke the dog has been with the Byerly family for four years. When the family picked Duke up from the Guilford County Animal Shelter, the owners said the dog had significant injuries to its head. Animal control brought the dog to the shelter after neighbors saw Duke wondering in the streets.

High Point police are investigating if the dog was forced into dog fighting.

The dog was reported stolen after family members say a strange vehicle stopped in front of their home and took Duke.

This is the second pit bull reported stolen this month near the Archdale-High Point line. A second pet owner, Kim Bledsoe, filed a police report this week for her white pit bull named Fancy. If you have any whereabouts of this animal you can contact Kim at 336-870-3149.
