GREENSBORO, N.C. — It’s the million dollar question: What’s going on with Natty Greene’s Pub and Brewing Co?

Or maybe it’s the $15 million question. That’s the amount of money Natty’s co-founders Kayne Fisher and Chris Lester need for another expansion of their brewery and manufacturing facility, an undertaking for which they are scouting sites inside and outside of Greensboro.

It’s a project that’s got people talking. Is Natty’s leaving its namesake city for greener beer pastures such as Asheville, also known as Beer City USA? Is Natty’s asking for financial incentives from the city as a condition of the brewery staying put here?

Fisher said Monday that he and Lester are simply doing their due diligence as businessmen. Sure, that involves checking out other cities that are courting them. But more important, it involves getting the financing to do the $10-$15 million expansion of its production facility, located on West Lee Street.
