REIDSVILLE, N.C. -- A local hunting store is helping a father diagnosed with a crippling disease.

Derrick Atkins is an avid hunter but was diagnosed with ALS in 2013.

"My legs, as long as I stand on them, they get really weak, really bad cramps, muscle spasms," Atkins said.

Since then the father of three has been out of work and on disability, and says it’s been hard to make ends meet.

To help out, Jeff Morgan, the owner of Reidsville Sporting Arms has started a raffle, offering a Remington 700 shotgun as the prize.

The proceeds will towards Atkins and his family.

The raffle started this week and will continue through May.
