HORRY COUNTY, S.C. — A newborn baby has been found alive in a dumpster at an apartment complex in the Myrtle Beach area, according to WMBF.

The TV station reported that a woman found the abandoned baby girl inside a plastic bag in the dumpster Thursday afternoon in Horry County.

The woman said the baby’s umbilical cord was wrapped around the baby’s neck. Police were reportedly called minutes after the discovery.

Details surrounding the circumstances of the incident remain under investigation.
