GREENSBORO, N.C. -- A lightning strike started a fire at a Greensboro home early Thursday morning.

Firefighters responded to the home located on Windermere Drive at 3 a.m.

Homeowners say the fire was contained to the crawlspace below the house. Lightning also split a tree on the property in half.

“To be honest with you, we didn't really know there was a tree down until an hour after we got out. We were so focused on the fire that was going on,” said Ronald Murphy, the homeowner.

Murphy and his wife were not hurt in the fire.
