Burlington man accused of sexually assaulting 12-year-old girl

BURLINGTON, N.C. — A man is in custody accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl.

Jose Romon Corea, 33, of Burlington, is charged with first-degree statutory rape.

On Wednesday, Burlington police were notified by the Alamance County Department of Social Services that their office was investigating an incident involving a situation where a 12-year-old girl had been sexually assaulted.

Investigators determined that the sexual assault occurred between January and March of 2015.

Corea was taken into custody and placed in the Alamance County Jail under a $100,000 secured bond.
