CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating a shooting in southwest Charlotte overnight that left one man in the hospital.

Officers were called to the 2900 block of Scarlet Circle around 3:30 a.m. and found a man who was shot twice in the waist area. He was rushed to Carolinas Medical Center where officials said he was in stable condition.

Investigators told WSOC it appeared the man was shot by his father, who police are still looking for.

Officers said there were five other people in the home at the time of the shooting but nobody else was hurt.

Police said the shooting stemmed from a domestic incident, and neighbors told WSOC that there was an ongoing dispute between the victim’s parents.
