Driver pinned under car that skidded off road in Rockingham County

MADISON, N.C. — A driver was pinned underneath a car after skidding off the road and hitting a telephone pole in Rockingham County.

An official said it happened at about 3:15 p.m. Thursday on Gideon Church Road in Madison.

The Madison Rescue Squad responded to the scene and pulled the car off the driver. The victim was then flown to the hospital.

The identity of the victim, extent of the injuries and cause of the crash has not been released. The investigation is ongoing.
