RALEIGH, N.C. — The Wake County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the discovery of a body along the shoreline of Falls Lake in the Blue Jay Point County Park on Pleasant Union Church Road off Six Forks Road.

A worker looking for trash along the shoreline made the discovery at the park that is popular with families and children.

Wake County Sheriff Donnie Harrison told WTVD that the preliminary investigation appears to show the man died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, but detectives were gathering evidence to be sure.
