Suspect sought in Burlington convenience store shooting

BURLINGTON, N.C. — Police have issued warrants for a man in connection with a shooting at a Burlington convenience store on Sunday.

Derrick Lamont Leath, 24, of Burlington, is wanted by police for assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill.

Two gunmen reportedly shot a man in the parking lot of DP Mini Mart, located at 839 Rauhut St., at about 7:20 p.m. Sunday.

After getting shot the victim ran to 615 Montgomery St. for help.

He was flown to Duke University Medical Center to receive treatment for the gunshot wound to his right leg.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Burlington Police Department at (336) 229-3500.
