Pedestrian struck, killed in Lexington identified

LEXINGTON, N.C. — Police have identified the pedestrian who was killed after being struck by a vehicle in Lexington Tuesday night.

Justin Wayne Thrift, 28, of Thomasville, was attempting to cross five lanes of traffic on Cotton Grove Road at 10:09 p.m. when he was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound, according to police.

Thrift was not in a crosswalk at the time and police said he was trying to go from Bojangles to a gas station.

EMS attempted CPR but Thrift died at the scene.

Police said a man driving a 2004 Dodge 4×4 pickup truck hit Thrift.
