Three construction workers killed in Raleigh scaffolding accident identified

RALEIGH, N.C. — Three men died when a construction platform on a downtown Raleigh building broke and collapsed Monday morning.

The construction workers, identified as Anderson Almeida, Jose Lopez-Ramirez and Jose Hernandez, were all killed.

The scaffolding fell several stories off the side of the Charter Square building.

Another man is in the hospital in serious condition.

Witnesses said they believe he survived because he landed on a portable toilet, which broke his fall.
