PITTSBURGH — North Carolina State upset No. 1-seed Villanova on Saturday evening, 71-68, to advance to the Sweet 16.

This is the Wolfpack’s first trip to the Sweet 16 since 2012, where they fell to eventual tournament runner-up Kansas by a score of 60-57.

The Wolfpack have now advanced to the Sweet 16 on 11 occasions overall. Their last national championship win came in 1983.

No. 8-seeded NC State will take on the winner of the No. 5 Northern Iowa/No. 4 Louisville game on Friday, March 27.
