ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- A mother in New Mexico has been arrested after she was caught on video apparently cheering on her daughter during a violent fight at school.

The Albuquerque Journal reported that Nicole Morlan, 34, of Albuquerque, can be seen in the video encouraging her middle school daughter to fight another student.

The mother was arrested shortly after the fight and faces two felony charges and a count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to the paper.

A teacher who tried to break the fight up was apparently punched and pulled to the ground. The suspect’s daughter said her mother was teacher her to stand up for herself.

The mother could face fines and jail time if convicted. The school girls in the video have reportedly been disciplined.
