Man attacks TSA agent with machete at New Orleans airport, shot by police

NEW ORLEANS — A Transportation Security Administration agent was attacked by a person with a machete at Louis Armstrong International Airport in New Orleans on Friday night, Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand told CNN.

A law enforcement officer shot the suspect three times. He was taken to a hospital where authorities said he was unresponsive.

The TSA agent suffered a cut to the arm, Normand said.

Farah Stockman, a journalist with the Boston Globe, was among those who saw what happened.
