NEW ORLEANS — A Transportation Security Administration agent was attacked by a person with a machete at Louis Armstrong International Airport in New Orleans on Friday night, Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand told CNN.
A law enforcement officer shot the suspect three times. He was taken to a hospital where authorities said he was unresponsive.
The TSA agent suffered a cut to the arm, Normand said.
Farah Stockman, a journalist with the Boston Globe, was among those who saw what happened.
