FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. — The Forsyth County parks department announced Tuesday that the new amphitheater, disc golf course and shelter at Triad Park will open to the public March 28, according to the Winston-Salem Journal.

The disc golf course will officially open at 9 a.m. The first 25 players will receive a free disc, the next 25 players a free golf towel. The 18-hole disc golf course has two tee locations on each hole to accommodate players of different skill levels — a total distance of 5,010 feet from the red tees and 7,171 feet from the blue tees.

A small shelter is located near the first tees. The amphitheater can be reserved for community and private events. The 4,300-square-foot amphitheater is built from wood and stone, with a 400-person concrete seating plaza in front of the stage and about 3 acres of sloped grass seating.

The amphitheater borders the new Carolina Field of Honor, a veterans memorial constructed by the War Memorial Foundation. A new picnic shelter has also been added to the park, along with restrooms. The shelter, one of several at the park, can accommodate 300 people.
