MORGANTON, N.C. — Burke County deputies said a man consumed an “eight ball of meth” while barricaded inside his mother’s house Tuesday.

Deputies arrived at the house on Norman-Caraway Drive in Morganton to serve six active warrants to Timothy Poole.

Deputies said they believe Poole had been using large amounts of methamphetamine and was possibly armed with a gun.

Responding deputies tried to make contact with Poole and his mother, who lives at the home.

After two hours, deputies said Poole’s mother came out of the house and told officers that he was inside.
