Sam Simon, co-creator of ‘The Simpsons,’ dead at 59

LOS ANGELES — “The Simpsons” co-creator Sam Simon has died.

The news came via his foundation’s social media Monday.

The nine-time Emmy-winner was suffering from colon cancer.

In addition to his work on the long-running animated sitcom, “The Simpsons,” Simon worked on “Taxi” and “Cheers,” among other series.

He was also known for his philanthropic work with animals.

Simon was 59.
